From the newest Heavenly Sword and Dragon Saber to the Return of the Condor Heroes, it seems more and more Jin Yong novels are being adapted into dramas again. As the cycle repeats every number of years, there will always be that one adaptation that's more memorable than most.
For me, it's the 2003 adaptation of Heavenly Sword and Dragon Saber starring Alec Su and Alyssa Chia that gave my favorite Wu Ji and Zhao Min. Gao Yuanyuan's portrayal of Zhou Zhiruo is a close second since Kathy Chow's portrayal in the 90's is arguably the most classic.
It's been 15 years since the drama was aired and we get a rare reunion from the two leads this month. The two attended a Christmas party with an ugly sweater theme.
Alyssa refers to Alec whom she hasn't seen in a long time as Wuji Gege and comments that he's still as handsome as ever. He responds in kind by saying that she's still a goddess on earth. He, on the other hand, won the ugly sweater award!
It just occurred to me how iconic Alec Su's characters have become considering that his onscreen pairing with My Fair Princess co-star Vicki Zhao is also beloved until today.
Speaking of the ladies of HSDS 2003, Alyssa Chia and Gao Yuanyuan have remained good friends along with their hubbies Xiu Jiekai and Mark Chao.
